So I’m a little bit out of my comfort zone on this one. I have never worn a crop top or a corset top in my life so bear with me. This outfit is cute but badass at the same time. Basically it’s Slytherin to the core. For me, this outfit is very reminiscent of a summer concert. The cowboy boots and fringe purse suggest a country concert but I doubt that a Slytherin would be caught dead listening to country so I think of it more as a Soft Rock outfit maybe. It is definitely daring. A note about prints. Here I have only used one print and it’s pretty eye-catching. (It also sort of matches the belt, which I love). It’s tough sometimes to mix prints so generally I would suggest to stick to one print, especially if it’s really intense. Here I think it just adds a touch of interest to the solid colors of the rest of the outfit and pulls everything together. Are any of you going to summer concerts or have been to one before? Have you seen outfits like this? Would you wear it yourself? Hope you like it!
So, like with the comfy Slytherin outift, this might not be what some of you expect so I will explain myself once again. If you have ever worn a jersey or cotton maxi dress then you know that it is the height of comfort. I wore a dress similar to this one and could have slept in it I was so comfortable. This is the perfect dress for those days when you want to look cute but don’t really want to put in the effort. Throw on a maxi dress. It’s effortless and still beautiful. This outfit in particular is perfect for a nice summer day when you just want to relax, maybe read a book (I’m sure many a Ravenclaw spend their summer days reading in the sun). The floppy hat is a perfect accessory to keep the sun off your face so you can see the pages in front of you and the crocheted tote is the perfect bag to wrap up this easygoing outfit. Like I said before, play around with yellow when doing a Ravenclaw outfit, even if its just a pop of color in your nail polish! The feather earrings here hint at the House name itself and also add a fun touch. Enjoy, and if you’re reading your books outside, don’t forget sunscreen!
Edit: Apparently those are leaf earrings, who knew? I think they look like feathers so that’s what I will continue to call them.
Since Summer is basically here, florals are definitely going to be a staple in my wardrobe. Actually, florals are pretty much in my wardrobe all year long, but during the Spring/Summer they actually fit well with the weather. Anyway, for me, florals can really be dressed up or down. Here I use them in a casual, easy going outfit. The lacy TOMS are just adorable and the fringe bag adds a sort of seventies, hippy vibe to the whole thing. So here’s a casual summer Gryffindor outfit, hope you enjoy it and get your florals on!
So here is my next Hufflepuff outfit. I always picture Hufflepuff as being especially girly so it’s nice to play up those features like the bows and lace. The statement pieces are definitely the yellow dress and the awesome shoes. Although the dress is bold, it’s nice to add a little bit more color in the shoes. The black and brown neutrals keep everything from being too much. I find that one or two statement pieces are enough for one outfit, especially with a color as bright as yellow. now that Summer is here, yellow is perfect color to match the warm weather and carefree Summer days! The earrings are my special touch and showcase my love for music, a trait that I know Dumbledore would appreciate. (“Ah, music,” he said, wiping his eyes. “A magic far beyond all we do here! And now, bedtime. Off you trot!”) Enjoy!
Ok, so I know that this outfit is kinda all over the place and doesn’t look particularly comfy. Let me explain myself. I have a very specific vision of what I think Slytherins are like. Their “comfy” is not necessarily what we think of. I can’t really picture a Slytherin ever wearing sweatpants because they are always put together. Slytherin style pushes the boundaries and is experimental so I like to mix elements. The shirt and earrings show a girly side that I think is important because I feel that Slytherin women own their sexuality and femininity and aren’t afraid to make it known that they are powerful, but not in spite of their gender. However, there are definitely some edgy and more masculine touches, like the combat boots and bracelet. The slouchy hat represents a “devil may care” attitude, but the large purse makes sure to let everyone know that Slytherins are always put together, and may just be better (and richer) than you. Hope you like the outfit and can appreciate my intention behind it!
So I’m back home in Connecticut again, still recovering from the craziness that was Commencement and the end of my college career. I’ve just been hanging around the house, reading, and trying to avoid unpacking. Since my friend Katie (http://ktref.wordpress.com/) has recently started reading Harry Potter for the first time I’ve been getting an urge to read them again so I may start doing that soon.
For now I will get my Harry Potter fix through fashion. Here is another classy outfit, this time for Ravenclaw. Recently I’ve been super obsessed with high-low skirts or skirts with different levels, so this one caught my eye right away. I also love the color (might be one of the reasons I’m a Ravenclaw at heart)! Also, when it comes to the house colors there is a lot of variation. The official colors are Blue and Bronze, with Blue being the identifying color. In a lot of merchandise and products the accompanying color to the blue ranges from yellow to brown to gold. I like to switch it up sometimes and throw in a bit of each depending on what I think the outfit needs. Blue and Bronze tend to get a little bit dark and boring sometimes, so that pop of yellow really brightens things up. Colorful outfits can be very fun, as long as there aren’t too many of them! Well anyway, enjoy the outfit! I hope it gives you some inspiration for Summer special occasions!
This post rounds up the four Hogwarts houses.Gryffindor is usually the most popular house since since it is Harry’s, but it is also special to me since the house colors are the same as my Alma Mater. Boston College, Maroon and Gold! This is just a fun and cute outfit for summer. It’s very bright and has a few different textures, which are always fun to play with. This will probably be my last outfit before I graduate on Monday so the colors are quite sentimental for me. Hope you like it!
